Tramadol
is a narcotic-like pain reliever. Tramadol is used to treat moderate to severe
pain. Tramadol is regularly used in the form of an ingredient in multi-agent
topical gels, creams, and solutions for nerve pain, rectal foam, concentrated
retention enema, and a skin plaster quite similar to those used with lidocaine.
Tramadol belongs to the class of drugs known as opiate agonists. Tramadol with Paracetamol works
by changing the way the body senses pain. Tramadol with Paracetamol may be prescribed as an
immediate release tablet (50 mg.) or as an extended release tablet (100, 200,
or 300 mg.). The extended release tablets are usually reserved for patients
with chronic pain who require continuous, long-term treatment. Tramadol
extended release tablets must be taken whole, not split, chewed or crushed.
Paracetamol
is one of the most common drugs used in the world, and is manufactured in huge
quantities. The starting material for the commercial manufacture of paracetamol
is phenol, which is nitrated to give a mixture of the ortho and para-nitrotoluene.
The o-isomer is removed by steam distillation, and the p-nitro group reduced to
a p-amino group. This is then acetylated to give paracetamol. Tramadol with Paracetamol is a
potent drug that is available without prescription, it is often used in suicide
attempts, and in this respect it is potentially more dangerous than other
over-the-counter drugs such as aspirin. This is because paracetamol overdoses
often cause liver failure, and there have been many cases where attempted
suicides have awakened from an overdose and changed their minds, yet still died
a few days later from liver damage.
